Refreshing Reads
A vivid and tender love story that illuminates one of the most intriguing relationships in history: First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt and journalist Lorena Hickok. It brings a hidden chapter of East Wing history to life.
"Oh wow, anytime I read an intelligently written book about a famous person I feel like it’s a high-brow version of an E! True Hollywood Story, and I don’t mean that in a bad way. This particular story will have some eye-brow raising moments too and make you wonder why you didn’t know about the life of Eleanor Roosevelt sooner (I know I did). The captivating storyline in this novel about Eleanor’s life is the relationship of female reporter during FDR’s campaign, Lorena “Hick” Hickok, and Eleanor, something that began as a friendship and moved into something more intimate. . . juicy. As more and more secrets of relationships in the White House are revealed it makes me wonder if we will be reading books in the future similar to this." - Shannon
